ESPINAR WINS PUNTE DEL ESTE TOURNEY
15 August 2008
Surviving an entry field of 350 players, Espinar
takes home $241 735
The Poker Stars.net Latin America Poker Tour Punte del
Este has been won in Uruguay by Jose Miguel Espinar
after a tough three days of competition against a
starting field of 350 hopefuls.
Espinar, who has been playing professionally for less
than a year, took the title and a winner's check of $241
735 after a heads up lasting for several hours against
Alex Brenes.
The final table for the event included players of
quality such as Alexandre Gomes, who had the chip lead
when final table action commenced, Gylbert Drolet,
Lisandro Gallo, Paulo Cesar Ribeiro and Sidney Chreem.
The heads up with Brenes saw Espinar start with an
almost 500 000 chip lead over his opponent, but the
players delivered some skilled and exciting poker, and
the lead see-sawed for several hours until Espinar was
able to truimph, sending Brenes home with a consolatory
second placing payday of $126 625.
