IMPRESSIVE LEGAL LINEUP FOR EIG
15 August 2008
Full discission on US legal situation planned
The next European Interactive Gaming (EiG) conference in
Barcelona will feature a full-on panel discussion on the
often confusing United States legislative landscape,
with an impressive group of legal eagles guiding the
debate.
Organiser Clarion Gaming this week confirmed as
panellists a number of key experts qualified in US
domestic and international law, a successful poker
operator who runs a legal business within the US, and a
prominent Washington insider and consultant.
Frank Catania, an independent director of the player
protection and standards body eCOGRA and President of
Catania Consulting Group heads the list and is widely
known and respected for his in-depth knowledge of
regulatory law and will handle UIGEA issues.
Mark Hichar, a Partner at Edwards Angell Palmer & Dodge
LLP will examine proposals outlining a network of
intrastate regulated i-gaming industries.
Mark Mendel, Lead Council for Antigua in its WTO dispute
with America, and also Partner at Mendel-Blumenfeld LLP,
will cover the impact of international pressure and the
WTO ruling in favour of Antigua, answering the question
“what are the next steps for the US?”
Jason Kellerman, CEO and Co-Founder of PurePlay will
also sit on the panel and provide information on what
operators need to know, especially regarding alternative
legal business models for i-gaming in the US.
Tony Coles, Partner at Jeffery Green Russell and Vice
President of the International Masters of Gaming Law,
will chair the panel while the speakers debate these key
issues, plus others such as how the results of the US
general election will impact i-gaming companies and how
the gaming sector can prepare for different outcomes.
EiG takes place between 23 and 25 September this year.
