South American state to host its first international poker event


There will be top quality poker as well as the opportunity to visit some outstanding tourist attractions like the ruins of Machu Picchu for entrants to the Ladies International Poker Series (LIPS) which is scheduled to begin in Peru later this (August) month. The event will be the first international poker event to take place in the South American nation.

LIPS has joined forces with Pro Poker Challenge of America on the tournament, which will take place at the Casino Atlantic City in Miraflores, Peru between August 23 to September , 2008, commencing with a Mega Satellite that will give winners a full week's entry to all events, including the pricey $1 080 buy-in main event.

Nine events will precede the main event and a bounty tournament is among these. Poker play has been planned to take place only between 18h00 and 06h00, leaving ample time for participants to savour the many mountain and beach tourist attractions of the region and its long history.

Lupe Soto, founder of the LIPS Tour said his organisation was delighted to be expanding into Latin America. "This is only the beginning of the new type of poker tourism we'll be able to offer players. Our goal is to create great poker opportunities and amazing venues in which to play the game as well," he said.
