WSOP MAIN EVENT FINAL TABLE DECIDED AT LAST (Update)
18 July 2008
After more than 3 hours of ten-handed play, the
final nine finish play in the early hours of the morning
When InfoPowa last reported on the World Series of Poker
Main Event action, the field was down to ten and trying
hard to reach the final nine players who will compete
for the first prize of over $9 million in November.
In the end it took over three hours of action in the 15
hour long Day 7 heat, but at 3.30am in the morning the
elimination of Dean Hamrick in tenth place concluded
play until November. Hamrick's tenth place finish was
worth a hefty $ 591 869 paycheck, but even bigger money
will be available to the nine survivors who go forward
to the Main Event final table. The ninth place finisher
alone will win a whopping $ 900 670, whilst the ultimate
winner will get a bank-busting $ 9 119 517.
The line-up for the final table, ranked by chip count,
is:
Dennis Phillips (26.42 million)
Ivan Demidov (23.92 million)
Peter Eastgate (19.3 million)
Scott Montgomery (19.3 million)
Ylon Schwartz (13.04 million)
Darus Suharto (13.02 million)
David "Chino" Rheem (10.88 million)
Craig Marquis (10.12 million)
Kelly Kim (2.9 million)
The nine players now have 117 days to hone their poker
skills still further until Sunday November 9, when they
gather again under the ESPN television lights to battle
it down to the two-player heads up challenge. Those two
heads up opponents will then play for the big prize on
the following day.
